A car’s Exhaust manifold is connected to each of the engine’s cylinder and serves the function of collecting exhaust gas from each cylinder, and dissipating them together via a singular exhaust pipe.

What are the symptoms of a bad Exhaust Manifold?

Listen out for an unusually loud exhaust noise from the engine bay. This may be the sign of a cracked Exhaust Manifold leaking exhaust gas. The engine area may produce a hissing sound which gets louder upon acceleration.

A Leaking Exhaust manifold will also affect the vehicle’s engine performance by way of reduced power and fuel efficiency. This leak will also produce excess heat which can damage the surrounding electrical and plastic components. Due to the high temperature produced, this heat has the ability to burn up such components, resulting in a burning smell.

The surrounding parts of the Manifold area will need to be checked.
